Auto dialer (auto dialer software, auto dialer app) is a software tool that automates the dialing process, in other words, it calls phone numbers from the selected contact list automatically and links successful calls to agents. Auto dialers have different dialing algorithms to serve distinct purposes. Auto dialer systems are widely used to improve the cold calling performance.
There are three main kinds of auto dialers, called Predictive dialer, Power dialer, and Preview dialer. Some experts also state that there is fourth auto dialing mode- Progressive dialer, but generally, it is just another configuration of Power dialer which works a bit different, using a multiple dialing ratio. Even though auto dialers are considered to be used for cold calling only, both Power, Progressive, and Preview dialing modes aren’t used for cold calls as for the primary purpose – their main goal is to process warm calls with current customers or qualified leads, which means they have nothing to do with cold calls. The only auto dialer for cold calling is Predictive dialer, which is extremely popular due to its capabilities of reaching out to three times more prospects than if call them in manual mode.
These terms generally refer to technologies or systems that can automatically dial phone numbers without human intervention, often used for telemarketing, customer service, debt collection, political campaigns, or other outbound calling purposes.
An Auto-Dialer works by using algorithms to predict when agents will become available for the next call. It dials multiple numbers simultaneously and connects the answered calls to the next available agent. This process eliminates the need for agents to manually dial numbers, reducing idle time and increasing the number of productive calls made.
The primary benefits of using an Auto-Dialer include:
Yes, Auto-Dialers are legal when used correctly and in compliance with relevant regulations, such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) in the United States. Auto-Dialer systems typically have built-in features and settings to ensure compliance, such as respecting Do Not Call lists and adhering to calling time restrictions.
Auto-Dialers are widely used in various industries that rely heavily on outbound calling, including:
