What is Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)

VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) is a technology that allows to transmit voice data through the Internet without the use of traditional telephpny hardware, especially phone landlines.

VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) is synonymous with IP telephony, so it is a technology, that operates traditional telephony functions using the Internet. Thus, you can save money on getting rid of traditional costly analog telephony services, but also you will gain some new unique features, which are unreachable for traditional telephony. Also, compared to IP telephony, VoIP technology can also transmit not only voice data, but images, video, and so on.
