What is Interexchange Carrier (IXC)

Interexchange Carrier (IXC) is the US legal term, that defines a telecommunication comapny that provides telecommunication services across multiple local access and transport areas (LATAs).

Only large telecommunication enterpises can receive a status of Interexchange Carrier as it requires carriers to own high-bandwidth, fiber-optic trunk lines all over the country to offer fast telecommunication services, including transmitting voice, media, and other data.
